Phosphorus Increases K+ in the Shoot and Improves Salinity Tolerance in Sweetsop Seedlings

The use of brackish waters is an alternative for the cultivation fruit-bearing plants in semi-arid regions; nonetheless, sweetsop trees (Annona squamosa L.) are sensitive to these types waters. However, phosphate fertilization can be a technique used mitigate harmful effects salinity. Thus, our objective was evaluate application phosphorus salinity irrigation water. experiment conducted randomized block design, with six treatments S1 (2.5 dS m−1) S2 = (4 m−1), SP1 m−1 + 1.35 g dm−3 P2O5), SP2 = (4 T (control), and P (1.35 g dm−3 P2O5). After 78 days transplantation, seedlings were evaluated total dry weight (TDW), leaf area (LA), salt tolerance index (STI), water efficiency (WUE), Na+ K+ levels shoot root, chlorophylls b, maximum (Fm) variable (Fv) chlorophyll fluorescence, quantum photosystem II (Fv/Fm), soluble sugar (TSS), free amino acids (TFAA), proline, glycine betaine (GB). It observed that treated SP2 show higher results TDW, LA, STI, WUE, K shoot, Chl a, Fm, Fv, Fv/Fm, TFAA, GB, TSS relation S2. presence under conditions increased concentration which responsible improvement pigments as well increasing carbohydrates, maintaining growth and, consequently, seedlings.
